Little PO - Crochet Po's plush from Kung Fu Panda 2. Free Pattern on krawka.blogspot.com

POlittle is here and he is extremly hugable. As I wrote before ( previous post) he was inspired on a little plush from the KUNG FU PANDA 2 movie. He appears on screen only for a few seconds, but it was long enough for me to decide I am going to make him.

It was quite hard to decide on colours, usually pandas are made from black and white yarn (except for zombie pandas :) but I wanted my panda to look old and a little worn-out. I decided to use two shades of grey ( only two, not 50 ) and a bit of black yarn for nose. Well, I am pleased with his shape and general look but the light grey isn't my favorite. I think next time I'm going to look for a way to use white yarn and make it look dirty without really making it dirty. Anyone tried it? Is it worth the effort?

Anyway I am very proud couse he wasn't as easy shaped as I thought and I hope someone will make a good use of the pattern below. Enjoy!

Stuff hands(upper ones on the picture) a lot more than legs (lower ones).

Congrats You have done all parts. Now You just need to sew.

Sewing information and sequence:

STEP 1. I always like to sew eyes and other head elements first, just to see a bit of final effect. Sew ears and eyes. If You haven't done it before sew the nose to snout. Make sure to stuff snout a bit and than sew it to the head.

STEP 2. Sew head to body.

STEP 3. Sew legs as shown on the pictures below. As You can see they are widely spaced and inwardly directed.

STEP 4. Sew arms. As You can see on the picture from the side they are not exactly in the middle, but a bit front directed.

STEP 5. With black thread sew the line in the middle to create the effect like the panda is made from two different parts sewn together. I skipped the snout. Then cut 11 pieces ( 3 cm) of dark grey yarn and sew them on the belly, back and back of the head in shapes of x or just basic seam.

STEP 6. THE LAST ONE. With black thread sew another line between eyes. Then sew eyebrows over the line remember not to cover the middle line. I think the eyebrows give him a lot more character and 3D look, but If You don't like them, don't sew them.

You have done it. Congrats! Are You satisfied with the effect? I would love to hear your opinion and see your work.
And last but not least  You can see who is really making all of my mascots :) I am just taking credit.
